Important

  • You may clean the front part of the thermometer with lukewarm (soapy) water, not warmer than 60°C. Medical alcohol can be used to desinfect the thermometer.
  • Do not expose the thermometer to direct sunlight for long times. Do not hold the appliance in or near a heat source.
  • Handle the thermometer with some care. Use it only according to these instructions.
  • The thermometer does not require maintenance other than cleaning after use.

Recording the temperature

  • Push and release button to switch the thermometer on. In the display you will see the sign °C flashing. This sign will keep on flashing until the measurement is completed. (If you should wish to read the last recorded temperature keep the button pressed down for a couple of seconds. See also section "The reading in the display".)
  • Place the thermometer in the area where you want to record the temperature.
    Mouth: the temperature is highest under the tongue (see fig. 2).
    Recording the temperature
    Armpit: place the tip under the armpit and with your upper arm hold the thermometer against the chest.
    Rectal: it is not necessary to insert the tip deeper than 1 cm (0.4"). In the case of rectal measurement you can read the body temperature quite quickly: about 1 minute suffices. When measuring in the mouth or under the arrnpit it takes slightly longer.
  • The bleeper will sound three times when the tip has been brought to body temperature. The display will stop flashing. You can then read the recorded temperature in the display.
  • Switch the thermometer off after use by depressing button again. When the button is pressed down the bleeper will sound.

Fig. 3. Press and hold button . The display of fig. 3 will appear and stay for approx. 2 seconds and a bleeping sound can be heard. Now you can check the readability of the data in the display.

Fig. 4. After that, as long as the button is held the display will show the last recorded temperature.

Fig. 5. Release the button. Then the display will show a line of dots first and then the calibration value of 42.00°C. After a few seconds this value will disappear from the display and the thermometer is ready for use.

Replacing the battery

The thermometer operates on one single battery (type LR 41). Fig. 10 and 11 show you how to replace it. Note: batteries contain substances which may pollute the environment. Please dispose of your old batteries at an officially assigned place.
