Useful Information
Making/answering calls, intercom
Problem
w is displayed, but I cannot
make a call.
Static is heard, sound cuts in
and out. Interference from
other electrical units.
The handset does not ring.
The base unit does not ring.

Cause/solution
L The handset and base unit could not
communicate for some reason, such as
interference from other electrical appliances.
Perform the following:
– Move the handset and base unit away from
– Move closer to the base unit.
L Move the handset and base unit away from
other electrical appliances.
L Move closer to the base unit.
L Turn on the clarity booster feature (page 33).
L k If your unit is connected to a telephone
line with DSL service, we recommend
connecting a noise filter between the base
unit and the telephone line jack. Contact your
DSL provider for details.
L The ringer volume is turned off. Adjust it (page
51).

L The ringer volume is turned off. Adjust it (page

L k The dialing mode may be set
incorrectly. Change the setting (page 27).
L l Check if the STATUS indicator is lit in
green. If it is not lit in green, see "STATUS
indicator" (page 82).
L l You cannot make a call while the base
unit is downloading the software update. Wait
until the STATUS indicator stops flashing and
changes to steady green.
L You may have selected the wrong line by
pressing {TEL} or {IP}. Select the appropriate
line to call the phone number.
L The base unit or another handset is in use. Try
again later.
L The IP line or the answering system is in use.

L The remote code of the answering system is
the default setting. You need to set your own
remote code for security (page 63).
L Make sure that an optional headset is
connected properly (page 74).
