(1) Remove the scanning optics unit.

(2) Write down on the notepad the reading width adjustment value indicated on the label
located on the side of the new scanning optics unit.
REFERENCE
Use this value for adjustment after installation (because it becomes inaccessible when
the scanner is pushed in).

(3) Install the new scanning optics unit.

CAUTION
For machines with shipment control numbers of 5004 or earlier, be sure to disconnect
the four ground cables. The machines with shipment control numbers of 5004 or
earlier do not have threaded holes for securing the ground cables. Thus, if those
cables remain connected, they cause abnormal images due to noise.
