IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
GENERAL SAFETY WARNINGS AND INSTRUCTIONS FOR ALL APPLIANCES
READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING: Read all instructions before operating product. Failure to follow all instructions listed
below may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury.
• AVOID DANGEROUS ENVIRONMENTS: Don't use light in damp or wet locations. Don't use light in
the rain.
• STORE IDLE APPLIANCES INDOORS. When not in use, appliances should be stored indoors in dry,
and high or locked-up place – out of reach of children – to avoid the risk of damaging the appliance.
• DON'T FORCE APPLIANCE. It will do the job better and with less likelihood of a risk of injury at the
rate for which it was designed.
• DON'T ABUSE CORD. Never carry light by the charger cord or yank it to disconnect from receptacle. Keep
cord from heat, oil, and sharp edges.
• DON'T OVERREACH. Keep proper footing and balance at all times.
• DISCONNECT APPLIANCES. Disconnect the 120 Volt AC Charger from the power supply when not in use.
• GROUND FAULT CIRCUIT INTERRUPTER (GFCI) protection should be provided on the circuits or
outlets to be used. Receptacles are available having built in GFCI protection and may be used for this
measure of safety. Charger plug must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way.
• USE OF ACCESSORIES AND ATTACHMENTS. The use of any accessory or attachment not
recommended for use with this light could be hazardous.
• STAY ALERT. Watch what you are doing. Use common sense. Do not operate appliance when you are tired.
• CHECK DAMAGED PARTS. Before further use of the appliance, a guard or other part that is damaged
should be carefully checked to determine that it will operate properly and perform its intended function.
Check for alignment of moving parts, binding of moving parts, breakage of parts, mounting, and any
other conditions that may affect its operation. A guard or other part that is damaged should be properly
repaired or replaced by an authorized service center unless otherwise indicated elsewhere in this
instruction manual. Have defective switches replaced by authorized service center. Do not use
appliance if switch does not turn it on and off.
• EXTENSION CORDS. Make sure your extension cord is in good condition. When using an extension
cord, be sure to use one heavy enough to carry the current your product will draw. An undersized cord
will cause a drop in line voltage resulting in loss of power and overheating. The accompanying table
shows the correct size to use depending on cord length and nameplate ampere rating. If in doubt, use
the next heavier gage. The smaller the gage number, the heavier the cord.

INSTRUCTIONS PERTAINING TO RISK OF FIRE OR INJURY TO
PERSONS
WARNING - To reduce the risk of FIRE OR INJURY TO PERSONS:
• Never look directly into the lighted lamp or shine the lamp into another person's eyes.
• Charge (use) only with originally supplied CLASS 2 transformer. Consult Manufacturer for
replacement.
• This LED Area Light is NOT waterproof. Do not submerge in liquids of any kind. Do not expose unit or
charger to rain or wet conditions. Water entering the light will increase the risk of electric shock.
• Do not drop or throw work light. It contains a nickel metal hydride battery pack.
• Do not hang the LED Area Light on anything that could become electrically "live."
CHARGING SAFETY WARNINGS AND GUIDELINES
Before using battery charger, read all instructions and cautionary markings on battery charger and unit.
CAUTION: To reduce the risk of injury, charge only Black & Decker Batteries. Other types of batter-
ies may burst causing personal injury and damage.
• Do not expose charger to rain or snow. Use in a dry location only.
• Do not crush, cut, pull or expose charger cords to extreme heat.
• Position charger cords so they do not become entangled or become a safety hazard. Keep charger cords
away from sharp edges.
• To reduce risk of damage to electric plug and cord, pull by plug rather than cord when disconnecting
unit from the 120 Volt AC Charger.
• An extension cord should not be used unless absolutely necessary. Use of improper extension cord
could result in a risk of fire, electric shock or electrocution.
WARNING: Use only the supplied charger when charging your tool. The use of any other
charger could damage the tool or create a hazardous condition.
• Do not dispose of product in fire as batteries inside this product may explode or leak.
• Do not expose the unit containing a battery to fire or intense heat as it may explode.
• Use only one charger when charging.
• Do not attempt to charge the unit if the 120 Volt AC Charger plug is damaged— return the unit to
manufacturer for repair.
WARNING: Do not attempt to open the charger. There are no customer serviceable parts
inside. Return to manufacturer for repair.
• A small leakage of liquid from the battery pack cells may occur under extreme usage, charging or
temperature conditions. This does not indicate a failure. However, if the outer seal is broken and this
leakage gets on your skin:
a. Wash quickly with soap and water.
b. Neutralize with a mild acid such as lemon juice or vinegar.
c. If the battery liquid gets in your eyes, flush them with clean water for a minimum of 10 minutes and
seek immediate medical attention. MEDICAL NOTE: The liquid is a 25-35% solution of potassium
hydroxide.
• All ON/OFF switches should be in the OFF position when the unit is charging or not in use. Make sure
all switches are in the OFF position before connection to a power source or load.
• After charging/recharging, disconnect charger or extension cord and wait 5 minutes before use.
• Although this unit contains a non-spillable battery, it is recommended that unit be kept upright during
storage and recharging. To avoid possible damage that may shorten the unit's working life, protect it
from direct sunlight, direct heat and/or moisture.
• Important: This unit is delivered in a partially charged state. Fully charge unit for 24 hours before
using for the first time (refer to the "Charging/Recharging the Unit" section of this instruction manual).
• Read And Understand This Instruction Manual Before Using This Unit.
