Making Initial Settings

Before using the DSR-DU1 for the first time after
purchase, it is necessary to make the following settings
using the menus.
• 525/625 (number of scan lines in broadcast signal
format)
• Date and time (For details, refer to the CD-ROM
manual.)
Note
If the 525/625 setting is not made, this unit will not
function correctly.
Broadcast signal formats in principal countries of the

Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Philippines, USA,
Canada, Mexico, Brazil, and other South and
Central American countries (excluding
Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay)

China, India, Hong Kong, Singapore, and other
regions of Asia (excluding Japan, South Korea,
Taiwan, and Philippines)
Europe (including Eastern Europe and Russia)
Oceania, Middle East, Africa, Argentina,
Uruguay, and Paraguay
a) There are some exceptions. For regions other than those listed above,
consult your Sony service representative.
Setting the broadcast signal system (525/
625 lines) and the date
Use the following procedure.

Power on the DSR-DU1.
The "SYSTEM" and "DATE PRESET" items
appear.

Press the jog dial to select "SYSTEM", and press
.
again to confirm

Turn the jog dial to select the broadcast signal
system appropriate to the region (see table above),
and press again to confirm.

Select "OK" to confirm the setting, or select
"EXIT" to cancel the settin

Set the date.
The date format is as follows, depending on the
selected broadcast signal system.
525J: year/month/day
525U: month/day/year

Select "OK" to confirm the setting, or select
"EXIT" to cancel the settin
When you selected "OK," a message "TURN OFF/
ON POWER!!" appears.

Power off the DSR-DU1, then power it on again.
This finishes the initial settings, and the DSR-DU1
is now ready to operate.
When you need to change the broadcast signal
system and date settings, please refer to the CD-
ROM manual.
Deleting Recorded
Content
You can delete content recorded on the DSR-DU1 by a
menu operation.
For more details, refer to the DC-ROM manual.
Using the CD-ROM
Manual
The supplied CD-ROM includes operation manuals for
the DSR-DU1 series of camera control unit (English,
French, German, Italian Spanish and Chinese versions).

CD-ROM System Requirements

The following are required to access the supplied CD-
ROM disc.
• Computer: PC with MMX Pentium 166 MHz or faster
CPU, or Macintosh computer with PowerPC CPU.
– Installed memory: 32 MB or more

– CD-ROM drive:
8 or faster
• Monitor: Monitor supporting resolution of 800
or higher
When these requirements are not met, access to the CD-
ROM disc may be slow, or not possible at all.
Preparations
The following software must be installed on your
computer in order to use the operation manuals
contained in the CD-ROM disc.
• Microsoft Internet Explorer Version 4.0 or higher, or
Netscape Navigator Version 4.0 or higher
• Adobe Acrobat Reader Version 4.0 or higher
