Integrated Peripherals
The following screen appears if you select Integrated Peripherals from the
Main menu:
The following table describes the parameters found on this submenu. The
settings in boldface are the default and suggested parameter settings.
Parameter
Description
Internal PCI/IDE
These parameters let you enable or disable the IDE
devices connected to the primary and secondary IDE
connectors.
IDE Primary
These four IDE PIO (Programmed Input/Output) fields
Master PIO
let you set the PIO mode for each of the four IDE
IDE Primary
devices supported by the onboard IDE interface. The
Slave PIO
PIO mode specifies the data transfer rate of the hard
IDE Secondary
disk. For example: mode 0 data transfer rate is 3.3 MB/s,
Master PIO
mode 1 is 5.2 MB/s, mode 2 is 8.3 MB/s, mode 3 is 11.1
IDE Secondary
MB/s and mode 4 is 16.6 MB/s.
Slave PIO
Setting these items to Auto activates the hard disk
speed auto-detect function. If your hard disk perfor-
mance becomes unstable, you may manually set the
system to a slower mode.
Caution: It is recommended that you connect the first
IDE device of each channel to the endmost connector
of the IDE cable.
