RE1000 Range Extener
On a Microsoft Windows 7 or Vista computer:
1. Open Winows Explorer, then click Network. The RE1000 icon appears
in the right panel. (You might be require to change the firewall settings
to allow the isplay of networke computers. Refer to your operating
system's help for instructions.)
On a Mac OS X computer:
Every MAC computer has Bonjour, the application a MAC uses to
communicate with basic evices such as cell phones an iPos.
1. Open Safari, then click the book icon. The RE1000 icon appears in the
bottom right panel.
2. Double-click the book icon. You are then connecte to the extener, an
the User Name and Password ialog box opens.
3. Leave the User Name blank, then enter the efault passwor admin.
4. Click OK. You are logge in to your extener's browser-base utility.
How to use the browser-based utility
If you change any settings on a screen, you must click Save Settings to apply
your changes, or click Cancel Changes to clear your changes. These controls
are locate at the bottom of each screen. Click Help on the right sie of the
screen for aitional information on the screen's options.
Using Wi-Fi Protected Setup
Wi-Fi Protecte Setup™ makes it easy to connect your extener to your network,
then connect other evices to your network through the extener.
Wi-Fi Protected Setup light activity
The Cisco logo on the top panel of the extener functions as the Wi-Fi
Protecte Setup light.
When the Wi-Fi Protecte Setup process is active, the light flashes slowly.
When the Wi-Fi Protecte Setup is successful, the light is continuously lit.
If there is an error, the light flashes quickly for two minutes; please wait
an try again.
Wait until the light is continuously lit before starting the next Wi-Fi
Protecte Setup session.
Connecting the extender to an existing access point
If your access point or router supports it, you can use Wi-Fi Protecte Setup
to connect the range extener to the access point or router. Choose from the
setup methos below to connect the extener.
NOTE
If you have an access point or a router that o not support Wi-Fi
Protecte Setup, note the wireless settings, an then manually
configure the extener.
