Notes • The “AIBO Speed Boarder” AIBO-ware is for only use with AIBO on the Speed Board. • While under control of the AIBO Speed Boarder AIBO-ware, AIBO is always waiting for your command. When you don’t guide AIBO with your voice or the pink ball, AIBO does not memorize or recall the path.
Preparing AIBO This section describes how to prepare AIBO for control by the “AIBO Speed Boarder” AIBO-ware. In this section, the ERS-220 is used as an example. Grasp AIBO securely by the body, turn it upside down, and then open the cover.

Insert the “Memory Stick” in the direction Label side of the arrow with the label side up. Battery Hold the “Memory Stick” with the V mark insertion slot downward and the label facing the battery insertion slot. Push it in firmly until it clicks.

Guiding AIBO’s movements You can guide your AIBO in the following ways: • By your voice (this page) • Using the pink ball (page 15) If AIBO stops moving If AIBO has fallen down or has been picked up from the floor, or an object is caught in one of AIBO’s joints while it is on the Speed Board, the safety mechanism activates and AIBO’s joints become loose.

If AIBO moves without a voice command from you or moves in the opposite direction from your voice • Speak directly towards AIBO. • AIBO may move towards a loud sound. • When an obstacle such as a wall is near AIBO, your voice may be reflected and AIBO may move in the opposite direction.

Memorizing the path Note When you touch AIBO on the chin sensor or the face sensor, be sure to reach for the sensor from the side of AIBO. If you reach straight for AIBO’s sensor, it may take your hand for an obstacle and move back.
AIBO has now memorized the path. You can make AIBO recall the same path until it memorizes another path. Let’s make AIBO move! Recalling the path Place AIBO at the starting point of the path that it has memorized. ERS-210 series t Press the chin sensor for three seconds or more.
