SYNCHRONIZING CLIPS IN FINAL CUT PRO X
1. SYNCING YOUR AUDIO AND VIDEO FILES AUTOMATICALLY
You must do this before editing
choose the 2 files ( 1 audio, 1 video ) to sync up ( CMMD-click to do multiple selections )
Go to Clip > Synchronize clips
use audio for synchronization
Disable audio components on AV clips - this will mute the camera audio
use the name suggested, or choose your own name.
Play the new synchronized clip to make sure it worked
2. SYNCING YOUR AUDIO AND VIDEO FILES MANUALLY
You can do this before or during the editing process
Drag the video file to the timeline, find the clap and place a marker by pressing M .
Drag the audio file underneath the video file, find the sound of the hand clap and place a
marker -
line up the 2 markers, then play the 2 tracks - you may have to make some adjustments to
the audio file. When the tracks work together, Silence the audio track of the video file by
reducing the volume line all the way to the bottom of the track with the mouse
When the 2 files are synced up, Select both tracks and go to: File > New > Compound Clip
Rename this clip by adding the Slate name after Manual Synced
Save it in the SYNCED CLIPS folder.
the 2 clips will be replaced by the new compound clip on the timeline. You can edit this
clip just like a regular clip.
