NOTES:
● Your TV must have audio/video input connector for the
connection to the VCR.
● Even if you are using audio/video cables to connect your VCR
to your TV, you must also connect it using the RF cable. This
will ensure that you can record one show while watching
another (
pg. 25).
● To make the most of the Super VHS picture performance we
recommend that you use an S-Video cable to connect your
VCR to a TV with an S-Video input connector.

Basic Connection

Check contents
Make sure the package contains all of the
accessories listed in 'SPECIFICATIONS' (

Situate VCR
Place the VCR on a stable, horizontal surface.

Connect VCR to TV
The following connections are required.
1 Disconnect the TV antenna from the TV.
2 Connect the TV antenna cable to the VCR's
[ANTENNA IN] terminal.
3 Connect the supplied RF cable between the
VCR's [ANTENNA OUT] terminal and the TV's
antenna input terminal.
4 Connect an audio/video cable between the
VCR's [AUDIO/VIDEO OUT] connectors and
the TV's audio/video input connectors.
5 Connect an i.LINK cable between the VCR's
[i.LINK IN/OUT] connector and the TV's i.LINK
input/output connector.

● If your TV has S-Video input terminals, use an S-
Video cable to connect between the VCR's [S VIDEO
OUT] connector and the TV's S-Video input
connector.

Connect VCR to power source
Connect the AC power plug to the AC outlet.
● The clock and tuner channels will automatically
be set when the antenna is connected and when
the AC power cord is first connected to an AC
power outlet (
pg. 9).
(If [Auto] or channel numbers are displayed on the
front display panel before the VCR is turned on, the
clock and tuner channels are being set automatically.
Wait until the clock time is displayed on the front
display panel before turning on the VCR.)

Final preparation for use
Turn on the VCR.
● You can now perform basic playback

pg. 15) or basic recording (
● To operate the VCR with your TV using the S-VIDEO
connection, set your TV to the AV mode using the TV's
Remote.
You can also use the TV/VCR button on the VCR's Remote to
set your TV to the AV mode (
● Use the commercially available i.LINK cable (4-pin, S400,
below 3m). If the cable used is above 3m, this VCR will not
fully maximize its performance.
