Announcement Mailbox
Description
Play a pre-recorded announcement to callers.
An Announcement Mailbox plays a pre-recorded announcement to Automated Attendant callers without
providing dialing options. The Announcement Mailbox is typically set up to provide information to callers
(such as company directions) and then route back to the Automated Attendant. For example:
The Automated Attendant instructs the caller to dial a digit (e.g., 1) for company directions.

- Record this in the Instruction Menu message for the active Call Routing Mailbox. See
- Set the dialing options in the Dial Action Table associated with the active Call Routing Mailbox.
● The caller dials the digit and listens to the prerecorded Announcement Mailbox message for directions.
● After playing the directions, the caller routes back to the Automated Attendant for additional dialing options.

By default, there are 24 Announcement Mailboxes (Routing Mailboxes 809-832).

Hangup Option

If enabled, the Hangup option will hang up (disconnect) the call after the announcement plays. The discon-
nect can occur either with or without a "Goodbye" proceeding it. Use the Hangup option when you don't
want callers routing back to the Automated Attendant. This could help a public golf course, for example,
that wants to announce the current course wait times and then disconnect the caller. The Hangup option
interacts with both the Repeat and Next Call Routing Mailbox options. See

Repeat Option

The Repeat option sets the number of times you want the recorded announcement to repeat to callers. This
ensures that callers have adequate opportunity to hear and remember the message (e.g., detailed directions).
For example, if you set the Repeat option to 2 followed by a Hangup, the caller will:
1. Hear the initial announcement.
2. Hear it repeat two times.
3. Be disconnected.
The Repeat option interacts with both the Hangup and Next Call Routing Mailbox options. See

Next Call Routing Mailbox

When an Announcement Mailbox announcement completes, use the Next Call Routing Mailbox option to
send the caller to another Routing Mailbox or back to the Automated Attendant. An auto dealer, for exam-
ple, could have a "tree" of announcements promoting their weekly specials. With the Next Call Routing
Mailbox option, the caller can automatically route back to a salesperson when the announcement completes.
Next Call Routing Mailbox interacts with both the Hangup and Repeat options. See
