    Safety The safety of our refrigerators/freezers is in accordance with recognised technological standards and appliance safety legislation. We neverthe- less feel that it is important to acquaint you with the following safety guidelines: Use for Intended Purpose • The refrigerator/freezer is intended for household use. It is suited for the refrigeration, freezing and frozen storage of foods as well as the preparation of ice.
  • Page 6 Safety • Children often do not recognise the dangers involved with household appliances. Please provide for the necessary supervision and do not allow children to play with the appliance! Daily Operation • Containers with flammable gases or fluids can develop leaks through contact with the cold.

    • Refrigerators/feezers may only be repaired by trained personnel. Repairs carried out by untrained personnel can lead to substantial danger. Please contact your dealer or our customer service depart- ment for repairs. Environmental Information Packaging All transit packaging materials are environmentally compatible and can be reused.

    Appliance Transport Two persons are required for transport of the appliance. 0 In order to push the appliance into its final position, press carefully at the top of the upper door and tip the appliance back slightly. The weight is then transferred to the back wheels and the appliance can be easily pushed.

    Installation If installation next to a source of heat is unavoidable, the following minimum clearances must be maintained at the sides of the appliance: – for electric cookers 3 cm; – for oil and coal fired ranges 30 cm. If these clearances cannot be maintained a heat insulating pad is required between the cooker and the refrigeration appliance.

    Appliance Description Freezer tray A freezer tray is located above the upper drawer in the freezer com- partment, this tray contains one ice tray. You can pre-freeze, for example, individual berries on the freezer tray. Advantage: the berries are not squashed; they retain their original shape.

    Appliance Description Buttons for Adjusting the Temperature The temperature is adjusted using the „+“ (WARMER) and „-“ (COLDER) buttons. These buttons are connected to the temperature display. • The temperature display is switched over from the display of the ACTUAL temperature (Temperature display is illuminated) to the dis- play of the DESIRED temperature (Temperature display flashes) by pressing one of the two buttons, „+“...

    Prior to Initial Start-Up Before connecting the appliance to the mains and putting it into ope- ration for the first time, leave the appliance to stand for 30 minutes if was transported upright. After transport on its side, the appliance must be left to stand for 4 hours before putting it into operation.

    Temperature Adjustment With the individual buttons for temperature adjustment the desired temperatures in the refrigerator and in the freezer compartment can be adjusted independently of one another. 0 Press either the „+“ (WARMER) or „-“ (COLDER) button. The temperature display switches over and the DESIRED temperature currently set flashes on the temperature display.

    0 To start the dynamic air cooling system push the button on the fan housing. The green pilot light comes on. 0 To switch off push the button again. The green pilot light goes out. The cooling process is more efficient when the dynamic cooling system is in operation.

    Freezing The bottom drawer is best suited for freezing, and the two upper drawers are to be used in the storage of frozen items. Attention! • Before foods are frozen, the actual temperature in the freezer com- partment must be -18°C or colder. •...

    • Make flat packages, because these freeze more quickly. • Do not fill plastic containers for frozen foods to the brim with liquid or paste-like goods, because liquids expand during freezing. Frozen Storage Warning! Before initial loading of the freezer compartment with pre- viously frozen goods, the required storage temperature of -18°C must be reached.

    Defrosting The refrigerator is defrosted automatically The integrated evaporator on the rear wall of the refrigerator compart- ment is defrosted fully automatically. The water collects in the discharge trough at the back wall of the refrigerator, and is fed through the discharge opening in the catch tray at the compressor where it is evaporated.

    0 Remove all the drawers. Place a bowl directly in front of the appli- ance to collect the water from defrosting and pull out the water drain conduit. Tip: In order to speed up the defrosting process, place a pot of hot water in the freezer compart- ment.

    If the refrigerator only is to be cleaned, press the FROSTMATIC button several hours in advance, in order to build up sufficient chill reserve in the freezer compartment for the interruption in service.     Noises during Operation Replace light bulb For safety reasons the interior lighting switches off after 20 minutes when the door is open. It switches on again the next time the door is opened.
