    SpeedStream PPPoE Modem Connecting the Cables You can connect the SpeedStream 5100 series modem to an existing Ethernet port on your computer. The SpeedStream 5200 series has both Ethernet and USB port connections. SpeedStream 5100 Series SpeedStream 5200 Series Determine the cable to use for your physical connection, and then follow the instructions below for the appropriate installation method.

    SpeedStream PPPoE Modem Configuring Computer Network Settings To access the Internet through the SpeedStream PPPoE modem, the TCP/IP protocol must be installed on your computer. If TCP/IP is not already installed on your computer, refer to your system documentation or online help for instructions. The default network settings for the SpeedStream PPPoE modem are: IP Address: 192.168.254.254...

Both user name and password are case-sensitive. Note Be sure to record your user name and password. You will need to use them when you log on again. Any keystroke or combination of keystrokes can be used as a password.

Basic Troubleshooting Steps Before contacting Technical Support, you should attempt to resolve the issue by following these steps: 1.

    If POST passes, the modem continues through the rest of its initialization, and the pwr LED changes to solid green. If the initial POST diagnostic tests fail, the pwr LED will remain red, indicating a POST failure, and will lock the modem. You will need to contact Efficient Networks Technical Support to resolve this issue.
