Getting Started

This document describes the procedure for upgrading the
PMW-F5/F55 to the latest version.
First save the update data to an SD card, and then use the
menu to perform the upgrade.
For details on using menus, refer to the Operating
Instructions.
Checking the Current Version
The unit version is displayed on the "Number" area when
selecting "Version" in the System menu.
Notes on Performing Upgrade
• Be sure to use the AC adaptor (AC-DN2B or AC-
DN10) when performing the upgrade.
• Use an SDHC memory card (Speed Class: 4 to 10, UHS
is not compatible, Capacity: 2 GB to 32 GB) or SD
memory card (File system: FAT 16, Capacity: up to 2
GB).
• Use an SD card that is formatted using the format
function of the PMW-F5/F55.
For details about the format function, refer to the
Operating Instructions.
Saving the Update Data to an SD
Card

Prepare the computer for saving data to the SD card.

Download the zip file containing the update data from
the update-data download site, and save it to a desired
location in the computer.

Expand the zip file, and save the update data file
(filename extension: ".bin") directly to the root
directory of the SD card.

Performing the Upgrade
Note
Do not do any of the following while performing the
upgrade.
Doing so could interrupt the upgrade process, and cause
malfunctions.
• Eject or insert an SD card
• Turn the power off
For details on using the PMW-F5/F55, refer to the
Operating Instructions.

Insert the SD card containing the update data into the
SD card slot of the PMW-F5/F55.

Select "Version Up" in "Version" of the System
menu, and select "Execute."
The following message appears: "Connect DC Power
to DC IN Upgrade Version?"

Select "Execute."
The message "Version Upgrade VX.XX > VY.YY"
appears (X.XX: current version number, Y.YY: latest
version number).
If the update data is not found:
The message "Version Upgrade No File" appears.
The following are the possible causes.
• The update data has not been saved to the root
directory of the SD card.
• The update data for a different model has been
saved.
• The data could not be decoded correctly.
Save the correct update data to an SD card, and restart
the upgrade from step 1.
