5. Check the spark plug gap of each new plug, using the 0.032 in
(0.8
mm)
feeler gauge provided
in
the tool kit or a wire-type
feeler gauge.
If adjustment is necessary, bend the side electrode carefully.
The gap should
be:
0.031 - 0.035 in (0.8 - 0.9 mm)

6. With the plug washers attached, thread the spark plugs in by
hand to prevent cross-threading.
7. Tighten each spark plug:
• about 1/8 - 1/4 turn after
it
seats
(if
the old plug is good)
• about 112 turn after
it
seats
(if
installing a new plug)

I
Improperly tightened spark plugs can damage the engine. Too
loose, you can burn a piston. Too tight, you can damage the
threads.
8, Reinstall the spark plug caps. Take care to avoid pinching
any cables or wires.
9. Reverse the sequence shown for removal: 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3,
