Problem
The external side
panels of the
appliance feel
warm.
Food has frozen
together.
There is a thick
layer of ice in the
freezer.
You cannot switch
the appliance off.

Possible cause
The warmth created by the
evaporator is used to
prevent condensation.
The door is not properly
closed.
The lock has been
activated.
Remedy
^ Use a blunt instrument,
e.g. a spoon handle or
plastic scraper, to prise it
apart carefully.
^ Defrost and then clean the
freezer.
Too thick a layer of ice
reduces efficiency and
increases energy
consumption.
^ Deactivate the lock (see
"Customising settings - To
deactivate the lock").
