For HP xw Workstations, if connecting small form factor hard drives:
a.
Connect the first four hard drives to the long 4-Port data cable with 90-degree connectors,
and then attach the coupled end of the cable to Internal connector 1 on the RAID controller.
b.
Connect the remaining hard drives to the long 4-Port data cable with straight connectors, and
then attach the coupled end of the cable to Internal connector 2 on the RAID controller.

To connect power to the hard drives, or for complete installation instructions, see the hard
drive product documentation.

External Connections

The LSI 8888 ELP controller card has an SFF-8088 connector available for external storage.
To connect external hard drives to the RAID controller card, see the user documentation for your
preferred device.
Connecting the LED activity indicator
1.
Attach one end of the hard drive activity LED cable to the SAS RAID controller card
2.
Attach the other end of the hard drive activity LED cable to the hard drive LED activity connector
on the system board
NOTE:
To locate the hard drive activity LED (HDD-LED) connector on the system board, refer to the
service label inside the workstation access panel. Use the LED cable appropriate for the workstation.
