2 Troubleshooting Procedures
Procedure 3 Connector Check and Replacement Check
The CD-RW/DVD, DVD-ROM, DVD-R/-RW or DVD Multi drive connects to PJ1820 on the
system board. The drive may be disconnected, or the drive or system board may be damaged.
Disassemble the computer following the steps described in Chapter 4, Replacement Procedures
and perform the following checks:
Check 1 Make sure the drive is firmly connected to PJ1820 on the system board.
If the connection is loose, reconnect firmly and repeat Procedure 2. If there is still an
error, go to Check 2.
Check 2 The drive may be defective or damaged. Replace the drive with a new one following
the steps in Chapter 4, Replacement Procedures. If the drive is still not functioning
properly, perform Check 3.
Check 3 The system board may be defective or damaged. Replace it with a new one following
the instructions in Chapter 4, Replacement Procedures.
