    Product Features Overview The HP Vectra VL 5/xx series 4 is a PENTIUM (P54) processor, ISA/PCI-based PC. It comes in two different packages, a mid-profile desktop box and a mini-tower box. The mid-profile desktop box has three front-access drive shelves and one rear shelf.

  • Page 11 The microprocessor has two 8 KB first-level cache memories: one for instruction codes and the other for data. The HP Vectra VL 5/xx series 4 PC has 256 KB of socketed second-level cache memory. This cache is synchronous pipeline burst cache, which gives better system performance than asynchronous cache.

  • Page 36 2 PC Hardware Structure Installing Accessories Replacing the Microprocessor The system board has a ZIF - Zero Insertion Force - “universal” socket to allow the microprocessor to be easily changed. Each microprocessor has a Voltage Regulator Module (VRM) which must be installed with the microprocessor.

Insert the new processor into the processor socket, making sure that the dot or notch on the processor is aligned with the dot on the socket.
