4.2 Sensors

The machine's original path is equipped
with two transmission type sensors, i.e.,
original sensor (S1) and registration sensor
S3; the pickup sensor (S7), delivery sensor
(S6), and reversal sensor (S8) are
photointerrupters.
The light-receiving face of a transmission
type sensor tends to collect paper lint, lead-
ing to malfunction if left alone and, there-
fore, requiring the following:

4.2.1 Cleaning the Original Sensor (S1)

1) Remove the two screws [1], and detach
the original tray mounting plate [2].
2) Clean the sensor (S1) [3] shown in the
figure.
