SLIP CLUTCH

Function
The electric motor powers the top gear wheel on the primary shaft. This gear
wheel has a slip clutch to the intermediate shaft to protect the operator and
the gear box in the event of jamming. Cup springs provide tensioning force
between the gear wheel and shaft. Flat friction washers are placed on both
sides of the gear wheel.
You can adjust the slip torque if this is necessary by measn of the nut on
the shaft.
Tools
For adjustment of the slip torque, two special tools are needed that are
manufactured by Husqvarna along with a torque wrench.
531 12 31-22
Clamping ring with attachment for 1/2 inch ratchet/torque wrench.

Dismantling
If the slip clutch is dismantled into its
component parts, it is important that the
cup springs are turned correctly when
reassembling. Friction washers are placed
on both sides of the gear wheel.
Lubricate the parts when assembling
to allow you to adjust to the correct slip
torque.
Adjustment of slip torque
In order to provide the correct slip
torque, all parts must be thoroughly
lubricated with the type of oil used in
the gear housing.
Assemble the complete slip clutch in
the tools as per the figure. Tighten the
clamping ring screw to lock the gear
wheel.
Test the slip torque
Attach the unit in a vice with the jaws on
the slip clutch shaft.
Test the slip torque using a torque
wrench.
Slip torque: 30–32 Nm
22–24 lbf·ft
Adjust the slip torque
Attach the unit with the jaws on the slip
clutch nut. Increase or decrease the con-
tact (torque) slightly. Test the slip torque
as per the figure above again.
Repeat the procedure until the clutch has
the correct slip torque.
