Definition
A collection of drives which collectively act
as a single storage system, which can toler-
ate the failure of a drive without losing data,
and which operate independently of each
other.
The ability of a computer to continue its
junction, even after one or more hard disk
drives have failed.
Software program that replaces the original
ATA drivers provided with the Microsoft
®
Windows
operating system.
Provides redundancy by writing identical
data to each member disk of the array.
A type of data protection where redundant
information is calculated from actual data
values.
The actual hard disk drive.
Redundant array of independent disks.
Additional computer components, such as
hard disk drives that are installed to back up
the primary storage disks in case of failure.
Serial Advanced Technology Attachment.
Standard used for serial signaling technol-
ogy and is used for connecting hard disk
drives.
A performance-oriented data mapping tech-
nique. Data written to the array are divided
into stripes and written across the disks of
the array.
