Introduction Your Philips recorder allows you to record TV programmes, copy camcorder recordings to a DVD±RW or DVD±R and play pre-recorded DVDs. The recordings you make on the recorder will play on DVD players and DVD-ROM drives. The DVD±R discs have to be fi nalised before they can be played back on other DVD players.

Recording Discs for recording Several different formats of DVD recordable discs can be used: DVD±RW (DVD Rewritable) – Discs that are rewritable can be used for multiple recordings once the existing data has been erased. DVD±R (DVD Recordable) – Discs can only be used for a single recording.
Recording settings The recording mode defi nes the picture quality of the DVD Rec. Quality recordings and the maximum recording time on a disc. The factory default setting is SP. Rec. Language Selects the recording language to be used for TV programmes which are transmitted with an additional audio language.
Recording (continued) Manual recording You can choose to record the TV programme or make a recording from an external device. SOURCE REC MODE Turn on the TV to the correct viewing channel for the recorder. Insert a recordable DVD into the recorder.
Instant time-off recording Follow the steps Recording” in the previous section. Press REC to set the recording time length. Each subsequent press increases the recording time by 30 minutes, up to a maximum of 6 (six) hours. Playing a DVD video disc The DVD disc usually contains a disc menu. You may have to make your selection (e.g., subtitle or audio language) within the disc menu. Insert a DVD disc.
