Chapter 6: Camera does not work
Pre-check
Activate the camera, take a picture and try to store it to the phone memory or the memory card. In
case this procedure results in a failure message such as "camera hardware failure", follow the
repair instructions:
Repair instructions
Electrical faults
If camera does not work, check the following signals:
•
Check Vcore 1.8VDC at C420.
•
Check VLCD 2.8VDC at C422. VLCD is coming from regulator N233. Therefore if VLCD is
missing measure VBAT ~4VDC at C239 and PURX (enables N233) 1.8VDC at C241. If both
voltages are ok exchange N233 and check VLCD again.
•
Check 6.5MHz camera clock at C905:
If the above mentioned signals are ok but camera does not work, check mechanical appearance
and solderings of connector X816. In case the connector seems to be ok, exchange camera module
I211 and retest the unit. If the problem persists, in most cases UPP D370 is defect. As this part is
underfilled, it is not possible to exchange it.
