Crash dump analysis is an essential part of eliminating reliability problems, such as hangs or crashes in operating systems, device drivers, and applications.

    Leave a minimum clearance of 122 cm (48 in) from the back of the rack to the back of another rack when racks are back-to-back. HP servers draw in cool air through the front door and expel warm air through the rear door. Therefore, the front and rear rack doors must be adequately ventilated to allow ambient room air to enter the cabinet, and the rear door must be adequately ventilated to allow the warm air to escape from the cabinet.

CAUTION: To prevent thermal instability and damage to the server, do not separate the processor from the heatsink. The processor, heatsink, and retaining clip make up a single assembly.

    Hardware Options Installation Battery-Backed Write Cache Enabler Option The Battery-Backed Write Cache Enabler, also called the battery pack, works with the cache module to provide transportable data protection, increase overall controller performance, and maintain any cached data for up to 72 hours. The NiMH batteries in the battery pack are continuously recharged through a trickle- charging process whenever the system power is on.

    Server Software and Configuration Utilities Redundant ROM Support The server enables you to upgrade or configure the ROM safely with redundant ROM support. The server has a 4-MB ROM that acts as two, separate 2-MB ROMs. In the standard implementation, one side of the ROM contains the current ROM program version, while the other side of the ROM contains a backup version.
