Section 1 - Product Overview
The DIR-869 operates as an Access Point when the mode switch is in the Extender position and an Ethernet cable is connected
to the Internet Port from an uplink network. When configured as an Access Point, the DIR-869 connects your wireless devices
together, but does not provide routing functionality. It also allows a connected wired devices to connect to your other devices
wirelessly. This can be useful if you already have an existing Internet router that does not have built-in wireless capabilities. The
DIR-869 creates a new wireless network and devices connected via Wi-Fi and LAN ports obtain IP addresses from the existing
router. Use a Gigabit capable Ethernet connection where possible to ensure the best networking experience.
Wired and Wireless Devices
Use this mode for:
• Extending your current network.
• Bringing Wi-Fi to an area it doesn't currently reach.
Place your DIR-869 near the area you wish to bring Wi-Fi to and connect via Ethernet cable to your uplink network.
Note: Extending network to desired location via Ethernet may require purchase of additional cable.
