reset
The process of returning a device to zero or to an initial or arbitrarily selected
condition.
resolution
The degree of screen image clarity. Video display resolution is determined by the
number of pixels on the screen. Resolution is usually specified in pixels by scan
lines, for example, 640 by 480. See pixels.
RS-232C
Standard interface for serial devices.

scanner
An optical device that reads printed material and converts it to a computer screen
image.
serial interface
An interface that communicates information one bit at a time.
serial printer
A printer with a serial interface.
software
Programs that run on a computer, such as operating systems, word processors, and
spreadsheets.
SVGA (super video graphics array)
A colour bit-mapped graphics display standard, that provides a resolution of 1024x
768 with up to 256 colours displayed simultaneously.
system board
The main printed circuit board inside the system unit into which other boards and
major chip components, such as the system microprocessor, are connected.
T
TFT
Thin Film Transistor. A type of Versa LCD colour screen that supports 256 colours
and provides exceptional screen display.
V
VGA
Video Graphics Array. Graphics technology that supports up to 256 K colours and
a graphics resolution of 640 by 480 pixels.
