Playback from the first track

Connect headphones.

• Accepts the supplied headphones, or other optional head-
phones with a mini plug.
• The REMOTE terminal can be used only when the unit has
headphones with remote controller. (See"Accessories".)

Make sure the HOLD switch has been
released.

• Release the HOLD switch when performing an operation.

Open the top cover.

Place a disc.
Place with
labeled side up.
• Secure the disc by pushing a position near the center hole
until it clicks.
To pause playback temporarily

• When the 38key is pressed during playback, it pauses tempo-
rarily. Pressing the key again resumes playback.

Close the top cover.

• Press down on the central front portion of the lid until it clicks.

Start playback.
• The power comes ON and playback begins.

Adjust the volume.
To decrease

• When listening through headphones with remote controller, set
the volume of the main unit to around 40 and adjust with the
volume control of the remote controller.
To stop playback

• The total number of tracks and the total playing time of them

The letter written on the hand in each illustration accompanying
the text indicates the position of the pressed key on the unit.
A Skip (4, ¢) keys
Press either key to skip tracks.
B P.MODE/SEARCH (Play mode/Search) key
Press when using the program playback function or press together
with one of the Skip keys to initiate the fast forward or fast reverse
operation.
C REPEAT key
Press for using various playback features.
D Play/pause (38) key
Press to play a disc, pause playback or switch power ON.

Stop/off (7) key
Press to stop the disc, turn power OFF or recharge the unit.
F
OPEN key
Use to open the top lid.
G D.A.S.C. (Digital Anti Shock Circuit) key
Press to switch the Digital Anti-Shock Circuit which prevents sound
from skipping.
H B.BOOST (Bass Boost) key
Press to activate low-frequency compensation. This does not
operate with connection at the LINE OUT terminal.

VOLUME control
Turn to adjust the listening level. This does not operate with
connection at the LINE OUT terminal.

Use to turn the hold function on/off.

How to connect the DPC-781 to a digital recording component
through the OPT. OUT jack.
1 Connect the DPC-781 to the household AC power supply through the
provided AC adaptor and play the DPC-781.
2 Set the D.A.S.C.to OFF.
3 Put the DPC-781 to pause mode.
4 Set the digital recording component ready for recording.
5 Start recording on the digital recording component.
6 Restart playback of the DPC-781.
To turn power OFF
After stopping playback, press the 7 key again.
Auto power-Off function
If no operation key has been pressed for 3 minutes while the
unit is in the stop mode, the power is turned OFF automati-
cally to prevent battery power consumption.

At the time of D.A.S.C. ON, the re- sidual memory amount is displayed. Repeat mode indicator which lights when one of the repeat modes is activated.

    This unit can be powered with three kinds of supplies including the batteries, household power line and car battery. The batteries may either be rechargeable batteries manufactured specially by KENWOOD or alkaline batteries. Be sure to remove the batteries from the unit when it is not to be used for a long period (of more than a week).
