The simplest configuration is SVR-1630 is to connect to DSL Modem directly. If DSL router and s switch are added onto the above network, several clients (PC and SVR-1630) can be installed onto the network by sharing an IP address.
Power Switch: This button is to turn on the Modem. Power Connector: This is to supply power to the Modem. Ethernet: This port is to connect Ethernet cable to DSL Router (or SVR-1630, PC etc) DSL: This port is to connect telephone line.
Power Switch: This button is to turn on the router. Power Connector: This is to supply power to the router. LAN Port: This port is to connect clients like SVR-1630, PC etc. Normally there is one LAN port unless the DSL router is a switch-integrated model.
In this network configuration, each device should be wired as below. Telephone line (DSL) is connected to DSL Modem DSL Modem and SVR-1630 should be connected with the Ethernet cable that is provided by ISP (usually a crossover cable). SVR-1630...
Technical Note TN-0018 SVR-1630 2.1.2. How it works For this configuration, the SVR-1630 does PPPoE process to get an IP address from ISP to be connected onto Internet. SVR-1630 1) SVR-1630 does PPPoE process through DSL Modem. 2) SVR-1630 gets a dynamic IP address from ISP.
Technical Note TN-0018 SVR-1630 2.2. SVR-1630 Configuration With this network, SVR-1630 should set the network values as follows. There is no need to set DSL Modem. 2.2.1. Network Configuration 1) Press ‘Menu’ button. 2) Go to [System] – [Network] - [Network] menu.
2.2.2. PPPoE Configuration 1) Press ‘Menu’ button. 2) Go to [System] – [Network] - [xDSL] menu. 3) Enter ‘User ID’ with your ID. 4) Enter ‘Password’ with your password. User ID and password is provided by ISP Samsung Techwin Co., Ltd.
1) Press ‘Menu’ button. 2) Go to [System] – [Network] - [SWR] menu. 3) Set ‘SWR Interval’. The minimum value is 60 seconds. ‘0’ second means the SVR-1630 is not set to register to SWR. 4) Leave ‘SWR URL’ as ‘webthru.to’. If you do not have DNS address, set ‘SWR URL’ as ‘210.116.114.37’.

Ethernet Leave the values as default. Do not check ‘DHCP Enable’ menu 2.2.4.2. XDSL [PPPoE] Click ‘xDSL [PPPoE] menu Enter ‘User ID’...

DSL Modem and DSL router should be connected with the Ethernet cable that is provided by ISP (usually a crossover cable). PC and SVR-1630 should be connected to DSL router with Ethernet cables (must be direct cables). SVR-1630 Samsung Techwin Co., Ltd.

Technical Note TN-0018 SVR-1630 3.2.4. Configuring through SVR-1630 ConfigStation Access SVR-1630 with ConfigStation program and go to ‘Network’ tab to configure as below. 3.2.4.1. If the default ports are not open on the network, change the ports with available ones. Should the port be changed, please use following ports. SVR-1630 uses some ports internally, and SVR- 1630 will not work if those ports are assigned for Monitoring and Playback. LAN to get on Internet with an official IP address (e.g. 66.252.134.184). SVR-1630 also uses the official IP address to register it on to SWR over Internet. NAT allows SVR-1630 of LAN IP address (e.g. 192.168.0.253) to use the official IP address (e.g. 66.252.134.184).
When SVR Monitor program accesses SVR-1630 over Internet, the program uses 8001 port with the official IP address that SVR-1630 has registered on to SWR. But the official IP address belongs not to SVR-1630 but to the DSL router on which SVR-1630 is connected.
Network administrator (or DSL router user) may block or open ports on the network. SVR-1630 uses ports to communicate with SVR Manager over Internet. Therefore below ports should be open through DSL router. Port...
4. Installing more than two SVR-1630s on DSL Router 4.1. Network Configuration This configuration is to share an IP address with multiple PCs and multiple units of SVR-1630. Please note that multiple units of SVR-1630 should share the official IP address through ‘Port Forwarding’ function of DSL router.

4.2. IP sharing among multiple units of SVR-1630 Set SVR-1630 and DSL router in the same manner for setting the network of an SVR-1630 except for ‘Port setting’ on SVR-1630. In addition to this, add more ports to the DSL router for ‘Port Forwarding’ as below.
4.3. SVR-1630 Configuration Should the port be changed, please use following ports. SVR-1630 uses some ports internally, and SVR-1630 will not work if those ports are assigned for Monitoring and Playback. And it is also important to check if the port-to-use is not occupied by other deviceS or not on the network before assigning the port to SVR-1630.
1) Press ‘Menu’ button. 2) Go to [System] – [Network] - [Port Settings] menu. 3) Leave ‘Monitoring Port’ as ‘8001’ through which SVR Monitor program accesses SVR-1630. 4) Leave ‘Playback Port’ as ‘8105’, through which SVR Playback program accesses SVR-1630.
Technical Note TN-0018 SVR-1630 4.3.2. Configuring through SVR-1630 ConfigStation Access SVR-1630 with ConfigStation program and go to ‘Network’ tab to configure. All the menus can be set in similar manner as an SVR-1630 on the LAN except for ‘Port Assignment’. 4.3.2.1.
SVR-1630 4.4. DSL Router Configuration To support multiple SVR-1630 units with an IP address, DSL router should route incoming traffic based on port number. Therefore user should add more port to DSL router for ‘Port Forwarding’. Below figure is an example to add more ports to Linksys router. With different models, you may add by referring to the instructions on Appendix.

Browse into the NETGEAR router gateway (default value is 192.168.0.1) and enter your Admin password. Go to [Advanced] – [Port Forwarding] menu. Click ‘Add Custom Service’ menu. Enter service name, monitoring port number and IP address for SVR-1630 and click ‘Apply’ button. Samsung Techwin Co., Ltd.

When applied, the configured port appears on the list. Click ‘Add Custom Service’ Enter service name, playback port number and IP address for SVR-1630 and click ‘Apply’ button. After adding playback port, please add Config1 and Config2 ports also by using 8404 UDP and 8405 TCP.

Enter ‘Name’ as ‘Monitor’ Enter ‘Start’ and ‘End’ ports as ‘8001’ Select ‘Protocol’ as ‘TCP’ Enter ‘IP Address’ with the local IP address of SVR-1630. Click ‘Enabled’ Add ‘Playback’, ‘Config1’, and ‘Config2’ in similar manner by referring to the chart on Page 32.
Add the 4 ports as follows. Click ‘Enabled’ Enter ‘Name’ as ‘Monitor’ Enter ‘Private IP’ with the local IP address of SVR-1630. Select ‘Protocol Type’ as ‘TCP’ Enter ‘Private Port’ and ‘Public Port’ as ‘8001’ Click ‘Always’ on ‘Schedule’ menu.
Browse into the 3COM router gateway (default value is 192.168.1.1) and enter your Admin password. Go to [Firewall] – [Virtual Servers] menu. Add the required 4 ports as follows. Enter ‘IP Address’ with the local IP address of SVR-1630. Select ‘Protocol’ as ‘TCP’ Enter ‘LAN Port’ and ‘Public Port’ as ‘8001’...
Enter ‘Inbound Port’ as ‘8001 - 8001’ Select ‘Protocol’ as ‘TCP’ Enter ‘IP Address’ with the local IP address of SVR-1630. Enter ‘Private Port’ as ‘8001 - 8001’ Add ‘Playback’, ‘Config1’, and ‘Config2’ in similar manner by referring to the chart in Page 32.
Click on ‘Advanced’ in the menu options. [The Netopia Web GUI Interface (Firmware Version 6.3 and later)] Under the NAT heading in the Network Configuration box, click on the Pinhole selection. In the Pinholes box, click on Add. Samsung Techwin Co., Ltd.
