B-1 FUEL PUMP CIRCUIT CHECK

STEP
1 Is fuel pump heard to operate 3
seconds after ignition switch ON?
2 1) With ignition switch OFF, remove
fuel pump relay from connector.
2) Using service wire, connect
two terminals of relay connector as
shown in figure.
Is fuel pump heard to operate with
ignition switch ON?
3 1) Check fuel pump relay, referring
to p.6E1-12 in this manual.
Is it in good condition?

YES
Fuel pump and its circuit are in
good condition.
Go to Step 3.
Poor fuel pump relay-to-coupler
connection, "W/G" wire open or
poor A13 (A23) connection.
If wire and connection are OK,
substitute a known-good
ECM (PCM) and recheck.

7. Fuel pump relay
8. Fuel pump
9. ECM (PCM)
NO
Go to Step 2.
"P/B" or "B" wire open,
poor fuel pump relay-to-
coupler connection or
faulty fuel pump.
Faulty fuel pump
relay.
