2.1.6 IP Ping from the Management Console
The release allows the user to generate an IP ping from any of the DSN-3200/3400 Ethernet ports by using
the Management Console. This includes both the management Ethernet port and the data ports.
2.1.7 SSL between DSN-3200/3400 and Management Console
The connection between the DSN-3200/3400 and the Management Console is protected by SSL in this
release. This mode of operation will be the only mode of operation and the user will not need to configure
anything for the operation of SSL.
2.1.8 Startup Menu on Diagnostic Port
A new startup menu has been created that contains the following options:
2.1.8.1 Reset "Admin" password
This option resets the password of the "admin" accounts back to the factory default.
2.1.9 Diagnostic Port Features after System is ready
The diagnostic port now contains the ability to login to the DSN-3200/3400 using an administrative
account. This login will be available after the system has completed booting and is ready for use. The
following options will be available from a menu after login:
2.1.9.1 Reset to factory defaults
2.1.9.2 Reboot /Shutdown the system
2.1.9.3 Change the out-of-band port configuration
2.1.10 Improved LAG balancing algorithm
Previously, the LAG algorithm did not re-balance the port distribution after a TCP connection closed. In
this release the LAG algorithm will rebalance the connections across all of the available ports after one of
the TCP connections has been closed.
2.1.11 Notification on S.M.A.R.T. threshold exceeded
The disk drives are polled every 4 hours to determine if a S.M.A.R.T. threshold has been exceeded on the
drive. If a threshold has been exceeded, an event log entry is created, and if e-mail notification is enabled,
an e-mail is sent.
2.1.12 Admin account password can now be changed
In previous firmware versions, the default admin account "admin" could be deleted upon the creation of a
new admin-equivalent account. This admin account's password was "admin" and could not be changed.
This new release now allows the admin account password to be changed, but unlike the previous firmware
versions, the default admin account can no longer be deleted.
