Router — a computer networking device that forwards
data packets across a LAN toward their destinations,
through a process known as routing. A router acts as a
junction between two networks to transfer data packets
among them.
STB (Set Top Box) — usually refers to the electronic
device that decodes incoming satellite or cable TV
signals. This is the proverbial "DirecTV box" or "Comcast
box" by your TV.
Streaming — digital or digitized data (such as audio and
video) that is transferred in a stream of packets from one
device to another.
Switch — a networking device that connects network
devices such as a PC, printer, or electronic media device.
On the Digital Deck Entertainment Network, a switch can
be used to connect a PC, printer, and eDeck in a room to
the LAN.
