Drive Belt
NOTE: Replace t he drivebelt beforereassembling t he newaugerbelt.
1. Tipthe snowthrowerupandforwardsothat it restsonthe augerhousing.
IMPOR@NT: Because g ascouldleakfromthe carburetor w henservicing
augerbelt,runthe engineuntil the fueltank isdry,aspreviously instructed
in Replacing Belts.
2. Remove t he springthat connects the transmission t o abolt onthe engine
frame.SeeFigure 19.
NOTE: It maybeeasier t o first remove theflangelocknut,thenuseneedle-
nosed pliersto firmly gripspringandremove from bolt.

Refer t o the Assembly s ectionfor instructions onadjustingthe augercontrolcable.

3. Pivotthe transmission f orwardto release pressure onthe drivebelt. Remove
belt fromtransmission p ulley.
4. Remove t he drivebeltfrom around the enginepulley,andawayfromthe
unit.

5. Place the newdrivebeltinto the grooveon theenginepulley.SeeFigure 18.
6. Tiltthe transmission f orwardandpositionthe drivebelt ontothe
transmission p ulley.
7. Reconnect the springto the bolton the engineframeandsecure the
transmission. Reinstall the flangelocknut.
Installnewaugerbelt.
Reassemble the belt coveronthe snowthrower.
Reassemble the belt keeper t o the housing.
