changing accessories. Inspect tool c ords peri-
odically and if damaged, have r epaired byau-
thorized service facility.Inspect extension
cords periodically and r eplace ifdamaged. Keep
handles dry, clean a nd f ree from oiland grease.
• CHECK D AMAGED PARTS. Before fur-
ther u se ofthe tool, aguard orother part that is
damaged should be carefully checked todeter-
mine t hat i twilloperate properly and perform
itsintended function. Check foralignment of
moving parts, binding ofmoving parts, break-
age ofparts, mounting, and any other condi-
tions t hat m ay affect itsoperation. Aguard o r
other part t hat isdamaged should bepromptly
and p roperly repaired orreplaced. Have d efec-
tive switches replaced. Do not u se t ool ifswitch
does n ot t urn itonoroff.
• ALLREPAIRS, ELECTRICAL ORME-
CHANICAL, should b eattempted onlyby
trained repairmen. Contact the nearest Bosch
Factory Service Center, orBosch Authorized
Service Center orother competent repair cen-
ter. Use only Bosch r eplacement parts, any
other may create ahazard.
• If router bitisprotruding through the base,
never laythe router down u nti! t he motor has
come t oacomplete standstill.
• Never hold the workpiece inone hand a nd
the router inother when i nuse. Always clamp
the material and hold the router securely with
both hands.
• Never use bits that have a cutting d iameter
greater than t he opening inthe base.
• After changing the bits ormaking any adjust-
ments, make s ure t he collet nutand any other
adjustment devices are securely tightened be-
fore using t he router.
• The direction offeeding the router into the
material isvery important and itrelates tothe
direction ofbitrotation. When v iewing t he
router from the top, t he bitrotates clockwise.
When the router islocated between your b ody
and the material, the feed direction must be to
the right, lfthe material islocated between your
body and therouter, then thefeed direction
must betothe left.Feeding the router inthe
wrong d irection causes the cutting edge o fthe
bittoclimb out o fthe work and pull t he router
inthe direction of this feed.
• Double Insulation [] is a design concept
used i nelectric power tools which e liminates
the need forthe three w ire grounded power cord
and grounded power supply s ystem. It is a
recognized a nd approved systemby
Underwriter's Laboratories, CSA and Federal
OSHA a uthorities.
• Never start the router when t he bitisengaged
inthe material. The b it's cutting edge may g rab
the material causing the router togetoutof
control. Always hold t he router with two hands
during s tart-up. The reaction torque o fthe
motor can cause the router totwist.
• Always make sure t he workpiece isfree from
nails a nd other foreign objects which c an cause
the bitand router tojump and damage the bit.
• Always wear safety goggles. If router has a
removable chip deflector, keep itinplace w hen
routing.
• Never touch t he router bitorother moving
part during u se. A fter u se the router bitistoo
hot t obetouched bybare h ands.
IMPORTANT: S ervicing of a toolwith
double insulation requires care a nd k nowledge
ofthe system a nd should beperformed only by
aqualified service technician. WHEN SER-
VICE ISREQUIRED USE ONLY IDENTI-
CALREPLACEMENT PARTS.
POLARIZED PLUGS: Ifyour tool i sequipped
withapolarized plug (one b lade i swider than
the other), this plug will f itinapolarized outlet
only one w ay. Ifthe plug does not f itfullyinthe
outlet, reverse the plug.If it stilldoes n ot f it,
contact a qualified electrician to install the
proper outlet. Toreduce theriskof electric
shock donot c hange the plug inany way.
