Each SATA hard drive has two LEDs. The following figure and table describe their locations and meanings.

Alternating The drive has failed, or a predictive failure alert has been received for this
amber and drive; it also has been selected by a management application.
blue
Steadily blue The drive is operating normally and has been selected by a management
application.
Amber, A predictive failure alert has been received for this drive. Replace the
blinking drive as soon as possible.

Hz)
Off The drive is online, but it is not currently active.
Amber, Do not remove the drive. Removing a drive may terminate the current
blinking operation and cause data loss. The drive is part of an array that is
regularly (1 undergoing capacity expansion or a stripe size migration, but a predictive

loss, do not replace the drive until the expansion or migration is complete.
Off Do not remove the drive. Removing a drive may terminate the current

Amber, The drive is active, but a predictive failure alert has been received for this
blinking drive. Replace the drive as soon as possible.
