This unit is equipped with a variety of precise digital decoders that allow you to enjoy multichannel playback from
ahnost any sound source (stereo or multicham]el). This unit is also equipped with a YAMAHA digital sound feld
processing (DSP) chip containing several sound field programs which you can use to enhance your playback experience.
Most of these sound fiekt programs are precise digital recreations of actual acoustic environments found in famous
concert halls, music venues, and movie theaters.
The YAMAHA CINEMA DSP modes are compatible with all Dolby Digital, DTS. and Dolby Surround sources. Sel the input mode to
AUTO (see page 37) to enable Ibis unil Io automatically switch to Ihe appropriate digital decoder according Io the inpul signal.
• This unit's DSP sound field programs are recreations of real-world acoustic environments made from precise measurements taken in
the actual hall. etc. Thus you may notice variations in the strength of the reflections coming lrom the front, back. left and righl.
• Feel free 1o choose a sound field program based on your listening preference, and not purely on file name of the program itself.

You can select from the following sound fiekts when playing movie or video sources. The sound fiekts marked "MULTI"
can be used with multi-channel sources like DVD, digital TV, etc. Those marked "2-CH" can be used with 2-channel
(stereo) sources like TV programs, video tapes, etc.
