4.4 Keyboard or touchpad
Keyboard or touchpad does not work normally.

□ Is USB cable connected to proper ports on server?
Check cable connection according to page 55.

□ Are keyboard and touchpad detected?
Press the [RESET] switch. If they are not detected, restart the server. (Do not touch the keyboard and the
→
touchpad during restarting.)
□ Is Hot-Key mode cancelled?
Key entry and touchpad operation to the server are disabled while in Hot-Key mode. Press <Enter> or
→
<Esc> key to cancel the Hot-Key mode.
□ Is the keyboard language setting correct?
See 45 page

□ Is touchpad correctly used?
Make sure the operating method of touchpad according to <Touchpad> on page 46.

□ Is the touchpad feature disabled?
See 47 page for enabling touchpad.

□ Is an interface cable connected correctly?
Check the cable connection referring to page 55.

Check if either or both of the cable connectors are defective and any connector pin is bent or dirt. If the
→
cable is defective, contact your service representative to request the replacement of the cable with a new
one.
□ Is BIOS configuration correct?
The features of keyboard can be changed with the BIOS SETUP utility of the server. Check the settings
→
with the BIOS SETUP utility.
□ Are the server drivers installed?
Refer to the manual that comes with your OS to check that the keyboard and touchpad drivers are
→
installed. (These drivers are installed along with the OS.) Some OS's allow you to change the keyboard
and touchpad settings. Refer to the manual that comes with your OS to check that the keyboard and
touchpad settings are correct.
□ Did you press any key while OS is booting up?
No key entry is accepted during OS bootup. Perform key entry after OS has been started.
