521EX zoom controller is designed to control operation of Sony PMW-EX1 video camera.

CONNECTING WITH THE CAMERA

CONNECTING WITH THE CAMERA

  1. Switch the camera off
  2. Make sure to connect the controller only to Sony PMW-EX1 video camera
  3. Connect controller cable to the 8-pin connector found on the lenses
  4. Switch the camera on – now you may start using the controller.
    After switching the camera on, the LED indicator should light continuously.

OPERATION

Selecting zoom speed limit

Turn zoom speed limit knob clockwise to set higher zoom speed limit. Turn the knob in opposite direction to set lower speed limit.

Variable mode zoom

Rotate the zoom knob right (or left, dependent on the zoom direction) to zoom tele. The more angle the knob is rotated the faster zoom speed is. Zoom speed is limited to pre-set speed (see "Selecting zoom speed limit").

Rotate the zoom knob left (or right, dependent on the zoom direction) to zoom wide. The more angle the knob is rotated the faster zoom speed is. Zoom speed is limited to pre-set speed (see "Selecting zoom speed limit").

Maximal speed mode zoom

Press one of "max speed zoom" buttons to zoom wide or tele (depending on zoom direction switch position) with maximal zoom speed. Maximal speed zoom overrides "zoom speed limit" setup.

Record start/stop

Press the button once to start recording.

Press the button again to stop recording.

RET function

Press the button to execute RET function.

Customizing zoom direction

To change the zoom direction, move zoom direction switch, found on the right side of the controller body, to opposite position.

PRECAUTIONS

Water Resistance

We put a lot of attention on making the controller to be as much water resistant as possible, while maintaining its reasonable price.

However we cannot guarantee 100% water resistance under all circumstances and you should avoid using the controller under heavy environment conditions like rain and over 95% humidity level.

High temperature

Avoid temperatures exceeding +80°C – especially do not leave the controller exposed for direct contact with heavy sun shines, e.g. in the car parked in sunny place.
