System Care and Preventive Maintenance

Daily Inspection

Perform the following tasks daily before using the ultrasound system:
1. Visually inspect all transducers. Do not use a transducer, which has a cracked, punc-
tured, discolored casing, or a frayed cable.
NOTE
2. Visually inspect all power cords. Do not switch the MAINS breaker to on if a cord is
frayed, split, or shows signs of wear.
WARNING
3. Verify the trackball, DGC slide controls, keyboard, and controls are clean and free from
gel or other contaminants.
4. Power on the system.
5. Visually check the on-screen displays and lighting.
6. Verify the monitor displays the current date and time.
7. Verify the transducer identification and indicated frequency on the System Status menu
are correct for the active transducer.

Maintenance Repair

For questions regarding repair or replacement of any equipment or parts on your system,
contact your Siemens service representative.

Observe the following in regard to discoloration: The use of Cidex
OPA and Gigasept FF disinfectants may cause discoloration of
transducer housings. Continue to use a transducer if it is discol-
ored due to the use of these specific disinfectants only.
If the system power cord is frayed, split, or shows signs of wear,
contact your Siemens service representative for power cord re-
placement.
A damaged power cord can lead to a safety hazard.
To maintain the safety and functionality of the ultrasound system,
maintenance must be performed every 12 months.
Electrical safety tests must also be performed at regular
intervals as specified by local safety regulations, or as
needed.
