The problems discussed above may be triggered by
standing waves.
In this case, the input circuit should be properly
terminated or the cable length needs to be adjusted.
The prescale input circuit is internally
w i t h a 5 0 - o h m resistance. T h i s means t h a t if the
signals output by a 5 0 - o h m external circuit are
measured, the problems possibly caused by standing
waves can be prevented.
In addition, unstable h i g h - f r e q u e n c y input signal
may cause an error.
In the period measurement mode, pseudo trigger
signal may cause measurement error. T h i s
measurement error can be reduced by increasing
the number of measurement cycles. T h a t is, a
longer gate t i m e value than the current one
should be employed for t h a t purpose.
A n y period
is a reciprocal of
frequency while any frequency is a reciprocal of
- its associated period.
If relatively l o w - f r e q u e n c y signal is measured, the
cycle measurement mode should be used instead of
the frequency measurement mode because higher

precision d a t a can be displayed.
If relatively h i g h - f r e q u e n c y signal is measured, the
frequency measurement mode should be used instead
of the period measurement mode because higher
precision measurement d a t a can be output.
E i t h e r measurement mode should be employed w i t h
a frequency of 10kHz in mind.
