Dust/Chip Extraction
Dust from materials such as lead-containing coatings, some
wood types, minerals and metal can be harmful to one's
health. Touching or breathing-in the dust can cause allergic
reactions and/or lead to respiratory infections of the user or
bystanders.
Certain dust, such as oak or beech dust, is considered carci-
nogenic, especially in connection with wood-treatment ad-
ditives (chromate, wood preservative). Materials containing
asbestos may only be worked by specialists.
– Provide for good ventilation of the working place.
– It is recommended to wear a P2 filter-class respirator.
Observe the relevant regulations in your country for the ma-
terials to be worked.
Avoid dust accumulation at the workplace. Dust can
u
easily ignite.
Operation
Products that are only sold in AUS and NZ: Use a resid-
u
ual current device (RCD) with a nominal residual current
of 30 mA or less.
Starting Operation
Pay attention to the mains voltage. The voltage of the
u
power source must match the voltage specified on the
rating plate of the power tool. Power tools marked
with 230 V can also be operated with 220 V.
Switching on/off
Make sure that you are able to press the On/Off switch
u
without releasing the handle.
To switch on the power tool, press the on/off switch (1).
To lock the on/off switch (1) down, slide it backwards.
To switch off the power tool, release the on/off switch (1).
If the on/off switch (1) is locked, press the switch first and
then release it.
Working Advice
Pull the plug out of the socket before carrying out any
u
work on the power tool.
Switch the power tool off immediately if the saw blade
u
becomes blocked.
Base plate with sliding rollers
You can use the power tool with or without the base
plate (4).
The base plate is equipped with sliding rollers to enable the
saw to be moved easily and make cuts at right angles.
If you want to cut the material to any shape or make small
cutouts, remove the base plate.
Cutting foam
Saw with moderate feed when making precise cuts, espe-
cially in soft foams and similar materials. Do not press down
too hard on the material or stretch it excessively while work-
ing.

To make small cutouts, remove the base plate (4). Use a
knife or a pair of scissors to make a hole in the material,
place the saw blade guide (2) in the hole and saw the cutout.
To make large cutouts, make the hole large enough to ac-
commodate the saw blade guide (2) with the base plate (4)
attached. Ensure that there are no obstacles in the surface
underneath. Saw along the cutout line, applying moderate
pressure.
Maintenance and Service
Maintenance and Cleaning
Pull the plug out of the socket before carrying out any
u
work on the power tool.
To ensure safe and efficient operation, always keep
u
the power tool and the ventilation slots clean.
In order to avoid safety hazards, if the power supply cord
needs to be replaced, this must be done by Bosch or by an
after-sales service centre that is authorised to repair Bosch
power tools.
Clean the saw blade guide (2) and the saw blades (3) at reg-
ular intervals (approx. after every 8 hours of operation).
You will need to remove the saw blades (3) from the power
tool to do this. It is best to clean the saw blades with white
spirit.
Use a scraper to clean the saw blade guide (2) if necessary.
Lightly oil the saw blade guide before fitting new or re-
sharpened saw blades.
