Overview Enjoying music stored on your computer • You can listen to music stored on your computer by operating the CPF-IX001. • You can use MUSIC SURFIN’ to easily enjoy tracks registered to M-crew Server (page 14). • You can register the current track to your favorite playlist and play tracks using quick and easy remote commander operations.

2: Installing the supplied M-crew Server Ver. 2.0 software To enjoy listening to the music stored on your computer or listening to the web radio, you must first install the supplied M-crew Server Ver. 2.0 software. The installation screen starts up automatically when you insert the supplied CD-ROM into the computer, so follow the instructions on the screen and install the software.

Notes on lithium battery • Keep the lithium battery out of the reach of children. Should the battery be swallowed, immediately consult a doctor. • Wipe the battery with a dry cloth to assure a good contact. • Be sure to observe the correct polarity when installing the battery.

Listening to music – MUSIC SURFIN’ Registering tracks to the M-crew Server Ver. 2.0 You can register and store audio data from an audio CD or audio data from the hard disk drive of your computer to the M-crew Server Ver. 2.0. You can then listen to the music registered to the M-crew Server Ver.

To enjoy music using MUSIC SURFIN’ You can easily search for the tracks you want to listen by using various searching criteria at the same time to narrow the search. Example 1: To search for a track on an album by your favorite artist on the server Press ARTIST repeatedly until the name of your favorite artist appears.
Listening to music in a playlist — PLAYLIST You can listen to tracks registered to the M-crew Server Ver. 2.0 playlist. Press FUNCTION repeatedly to switch the function to the network function. The LINE indicator on the main unit turns off.
Listening to music in a favorite playlist — FAVORITE PLAYLIST Registration/ FAVORITE PLAYLIST Play What is a FAVORITE PLAYLIST? You can register the current track to your favorite playlist and play tracks using quick and easy remote commander operations. Each favorite playlist can contain up to 100 tracks.
Listening to web radio – WEB RADIO Listening to web radio using M-crew Server Ver. You can listen to web radio programs using M-crew Server Ver. 2.0 and internet access. Preset web radio stations on your computer first. Press FUNCTION repeatedly to switch the function to the network function.
Advanced network settings Using the network menu By using the network menu, you can make various settings on network. Press MENU. Press . or > repeatedly to select the item that you want to set. Item SERVER? NET SETUP? RESTART? WLAN SETUP? REGISTER? NET INFO?
Making network settings manually By default the CPF-IX001 acquires an IP address automatically. Use the following procedure to specify an IP address, if necessary. Note that when the CPF-IX001 is used in an environment containing a router with DHCP, you should not need to specify the IP address of the CPF-IX001.
Registering the CPF-IX001 on your computer manually When the CPF-IX001 is connected to your computer after installing the M-crew Server Ver. 2.0 software, the CPF-IX001 is registered automatically on your computer. Register the CPF-IX001 on your computer manually for higher security. Select “REGISTER?”...
Other operations Adjusting the sound SURROUND EQ OFF BASS +/– Selecting the surround effect Press SURROUND. Each time you press the button, the surround effect changes as follows: Off y On The SURROUND indicator on the main unit turns on and off each time you press SURROUND.
Viewing information in the display You can check the following information in the display of the CPF-IX001. Note that this function is not available when listening to web radio. Checking the playing time and remaining time You can check the playing time and remaining time of the current track.
If the problem persists after doing all of the above, consult your nearest Sony dealer. Note that if service personnel changes some parts during repair, these parts may be retained. When bringing the system in for repairs, be sure to bring in the entire system.

Messages If a message appears while using the CPF- IX001, follow the procedures below to correct the problem. Network Cannot Play • Start up M-crew Server Ver. 2.0 and click the [ERROR LOG] button in the LAUNCHER window, or right-click the M-crew Server task tray icon* and select “ERROR LOG VIEWER”, then check the error log.
