The center speaker setting is at
SMALL or LARGE whereas no
center speaker is installed.
Dolby Pro Logic is switched on.
The currently reproduced sound
is not Dolby Digital coded.
Symptom
The optical cable has become
detached.
The disc is dirty.
The loaded disc is a type this
unit cannot play.
Non compatible video system
disc is loaded.
The loaded disc has a different
region number from this unit.
Connections are incorrect.
With some discs, 96 kHz output
is prohibited.
The unit is performing Still,
Slow Motion or Frame-By-
Frame playback.
Cause
Change the center speaker's
Size setting to OFF. (If the
audio source is mono and Dolby
Pro Logic is switched on, sound
is heard over the center speaker

Set Dolby Pro Logic to OFF. (If
the audio source is mono and
Dolby Pro Logic is switched on,
sound is heard over the center
speaker only.) (See page 99.)
The feature is only effective on
Dolby Digital sounds. (See
page 99.)
Cause
Connect the cable correctly.
Clean the disc. (See page 16.)
Check what type the disc is.
Change to a disc compatible to
your video system.
Replace the disc with one fea-
turing the same region number
as this unit. (See page 13.)
Check connections.
Switch the output setting to
48 kHz. (See page 127.)
There is no sound during Still,
Slow Motion or Frame-By-
Frame playback.
