Kickback and related warnings
Kickback is a sudden reaction resulting from the sudden blockage or seizure of the rotating insertion tool.
Seizure or blockage causes the rotating insertion tool to stop abruptly. This results in the uncontrolled
acceleration of the electric tool against the insertion tool's direction of rotation at the seizure point.
Kickback is the result of incorrect or faulty use of the electric tool. Kickback can be prevented through
suitable safety measures as described below.
a) Hold the electric tool firmly and hold your body and arms in a position that allows you to absorb any
potential kickback force. Always use an additional handle if you have one to maintain the greatest
possible control over kickback force or torque reaction. With suitable precautionary measures, the
operating person can maintain control over potential kickback or torque forces.
b) Never put your hand near rotating insertion tools. The insertion tool may catch your hand in case of
kickback.
c) Keep your body out of the area the electric tool threatens in case of kickback. Kickback propels the
electric tool in the opposite direction to the movement of the grinding disk at the point of seizure.
d) Exercise extreme caution when working near corners, sharp edges, etc. Avoid letting insertion tools
rebound or catch on the work piece. Rotating insertion tools tends to catch near corners, sharp edges
or in case of rebound. This may result in loss of control or kickback.

Special safety instructions for polishing:
a) Do not allow any loose parts of the polishing bonnet, especially fastening cords. Store or shorten
fastening cords. Loose, rotating fastening cords may catch your fingers or become tangled in the work
piece.
Additional safety instructions for polishing
- Use the additional handles supplied with the device. Loss of control over the machine can result in
injury.
- Hold the device by the insulated handles only when carrying out tasks where the insertion tool may
come into contact with hidden power lines or its own power cable. Contact with live wires may also
apply voltage to metallic device parts and result in electric shock.
VI.
Additional safety instructions:
Never hold the work piece in your hand or over your leg. Fasten the work piece in sturdy mounting
equipment. It is crucial to fasten the work piece firmly to minimize the risk of physical contact or loss of
control.
Brace large work pieces to decrease the risk of warping or breakage. Large work pieces may warp under
their own weight and require suitable bracing.
Process only materials described in this manual that are permitted for this device. Other materials may
result in additional hazards to your health or the environment.
