Connecting to Ethernet Ports

Caution
Cables that connect to Ethernet ports must be IEEE 802.3 compliant to prevent
potential data loss.
To connect to a hub, use a straight-through RJ-45 cable.
To connect directly to a host, use an RJ-45 crossover cable.
Use IEEE 802.3 10/100 BASE-TX, 1000 BASE-T CAT 5 unshielded twisted-pair, full-duplex or
half-duplex cable.
You can order appropriate adapter cables separately. You can order additional cables from a
cable vendor of your choice.
The following figure shows the pin assignments for the cable. The RJ-45 cable output connector
is numbered from left to right, with the copper tabs facing down and toward you.
