    Do not place other objects on the chassis. NOTE The installation, cable connection, and login methods for S5720I-SI series switches are similar. This document uses S5720I-28X-PWH-SI-AC as an example. Figures in the document are for reference only and may be different from actual devices.

    In all installation scenarios, the switches, cabinets, independent power modules, and surge protectors must be separately grounded. When installing the S5720I-SI series switches in outdoor cabinets, ensure that the following requirements are met: AC switch: If the 220 V mains supply is used, install a 20 kA surge protector between the power port of the switch and the mains.

    Before You Start Do not stack fanless switches on top of or closely next to each other. S5720I-SI series switches provide a security slot ( ) near the panel on a side of the chassis. You can install a security lock (separately purchased) in this slot to protect the switch against theft.
  • Page 5 Scenario 3: Cabinet/Rack Mounting Before You Start S5720I-SI can be installed in a 19-inch standard cabinet/rack or an outdoor cabinet. Cabinets purchased from other vendors must have enough space for equipment installation. The cabinet/rack must have reliable ground points to ground the switch. Width of the mounting rails of an outdoor cabinet: The mounting rails supported by the standard mounting brackets delivered with the S5720I-12X-SI-AC and S5720I-12X-PWH-SI-DC must have a width of 272.5 mm to 278.5 mm.

    M6 screw 6 Connecting Cables WARNING Laser beams will cause eye damage. Do not look into bores of optical modules or optical fibers without eye protection. Do not install power cables while the power is on. Do not turn on the power until you have finished installing the chassis and connecting cables. CAUTION Power cables and network cables laid indoors or buried underground, and cannot be routed aerially outdoors.

Phoenix connectors are included in the auxiliary material package delivered with the switch. For the S5720I-12X-PWH-SI-DC switch, DC power input ports are available.   • Page 9: Logging In To The Switch For The First Time

    Step 2 Insert the Phoenix connector into the DC input port on the switch and the DC output port on the power module, and tighten the screws on both sides of the Phoenix connector. Step 3 Use a wire stripper to peel about 7 mm length of insulation coating off one end of the live wire/neutral wire/ground cable (L/N/PE cable).
  • Page 10 Start the web browser on the computer, enter https://192.168.1.253 in the address box, and press Enter to display the initial login page. Enter the default user name admin and default password admin@huawei.com and select the language on the login page. Then click GO or press Enter.
