Procedures
Disconnecting the
Spark-Plug Wire
Before performing any maintenance on the engine,
belts, or blades, disconnect the spark-plug wire from
the spark plug

Maintenance Procedure
• Change the engine oil.
• Check the engine-oil level.
• Check the gearcase oil level.
• Clean debris from the air cleaner and engine.
• Lubricate the blade arms.
• Inspect the air cleaner elements.
• Check for loose fasteners.
• Check the belt, pulley alignment, belt tension, and belt-guide gap.
• Clean the air filter elements. Clean them more frequently in dusty operating
conditions.
• Change the engine oil.
• Inspect and adjust the spark plug; replace it if necessary.
• Change the gearcase oil.
• Replace the spark plug.
• Replace the paper air cleaner element. Replace it more frequently in dusty operating
conditions.
• Touch up chipped paint
