    Carl Zeiss lens Your camcorder is equipped with a Carl Zeiss lens, which was developed jointly by Carl Zeiss, in Germany, and Sony Corporation, and produces superior images. It adopts the MTF measurement system for video cameras and offers a quality typical of a Carl Zeiss lens.

    In the default setting, a photo is recorded automatically when the camcorder detects the smile of a person  during movie recording ([SMILE SHUTTER], p. 85). An orange frame appears around a face targeted for possible smile detection shot. You can capture photos from recorded movies (p. 59).

    You cannot change the zoom speed with the zoom buttons on the LCD frame.  The minimum possible distance between camcorder and subject while maintaining sharp focus is about 1  cm (about 13/32 in.) for wide angle and about 80 cm (about 2 5/8 feet) for telephoto.
