Description
Cubicle Interface Barrier For Type
MSV & FSV Circuit Breakers
The type 5-MSV-250 c i rcuit breaker to " D " cubicle interface
req u i res a two piece metal barrier be mounted in the " D " cu
bicle, above and adjacent to the u pper front of the breakers,
to isolate the high voltage area above the breaker, (Figure 2a
and 30). The hi nged front panel , which p rovides this isolation
for air magnetic breakers, cannot be u sed , due to the requi red
config uration of the vacuu m interru pter/operator and vehicle
subassembl ies to fit in the 26 inch wide,
barriers are automatically factory installed i n all new cubicles
designed for use with MSV b reakers. Check with factory for
special procedures for g round and test device usag e in these
modified "D" cubicles.
The replacement of Type MA-250 air mag netic c i rcuit breakers
with type 5-MSV-250 vacuum c i rcuit b reakers will req u i re the
mounting of two barriers i n the existing "D" cubicles plus
notching the internal " i ris" barrier as ind icated on replacement
instructions . Type FSV new and replacement breakers do not
requ i re additional barriers or notch ing of the "F" cubicles.
The interface barrier on the " D " cubicle for MSV breakers and
an interference barriers used across the "F" cu bicle for FSV
breakers are designed to p revent air magnetic breakers from
being i nserted i nto cu bicles exclusively designed for vacu um
breakers. If proper insulating barriers are i nstalled across the
top of "F" cubicles, either air magnetic or vacuum breakers
could be p roperly u sed .
