Before using the FOMA terminal overseas

Checking before leaving Japan
Refer to the following documents for using FOMA terminal overseas before
leaving Japan.
Subscription
• Confirm your application status of WORLD WING. For details, contact
"docomo Smartphone Care" on the last page of this manual.
• There are some unavailable charging plans.
Battery charge
• Using overseas may consume much of the battery power.
• For precautions on handling accessory AC adapter, see P .18.
• For charging with AC adapter, see P.19.
Usage fee
• Overseas usage charge (call and packet communication) differs from
those in Japan.
Remote operation settings
To use subscribed network services overseas, such as Voice Mail
service, Call Forwarding service, etc, you need to activate Remote
operation settings. For operations, see "Mobile Phone User's Guide
[International Services]".
Reject SMS option
You can set to reject SMS (including reception information when the
FOMA terminal is out of service area) overseas. For operations, see
"Mobile Phone User's Guide [International Services]".

Using in the country you stay
When you arrive overseas and turn on the FOMA terminal, an available
network is automatically connected.
Connection
When you move out of service area in use, the FOMA terminal searches
available network automatically and reconnect it. By default, "Network
mode" is set to "GSM/3G (auto mode)".
To change the setting of "Network mode", perform the following steps.

From the Home screen,
"Mobile networks" → "Network mode" → Tap "GSM/3G (auto mode)"/
"GSM only"/"3G only".
Display
A network type in use is displayed in an icon in the status bar of the display.

Setting clock
When you marked "Automatic" in "Date and time", the clock time or time
zone of the FOMA terminal is corrected by receiving information about
time or time zone from the network overseas operator in connection
(P.107).
• Correction timing varies by overseas network operator in connection.
• To set manually, unmark "Automatic" and make each setting of "Set
date", "Select time zone", and "Set time".
